From floating stairs to functional fire escapes Metcalfe has been creating staircases for domestic and commercial clients for over 20 years. From clean modern designs to ornate traditional flowing staircases we can help fulfil your vision. Our team can help cost, design, fabricate and fit your staircase. Every staircase we fabricate is tailored to our customer requirements and so we are always happy to provide advice on the design choices. Cantilever
Looking to create a gravity defying steel staircase in your space? Then a cantilever staircase is not only functional but a truly breathtaking way to add a unique element to your interior design. These staircases are often also referred to as floating staircases, due to the treads being reinforced to a supporting structure on only one side, with the other side free, seemingly ‘floating’ in the air.
Fire Escapes
We design our staircases to comply with Part K regulations and can work alongside architects and building control to ensure compliance of Part B for fire safety requirements. We typically finish external fire escape staircases in either hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 or shot blast, zinc primed and powder coated where a more architectural finish is desired. All our steel staircases and railings are manufactured and installed by our team at Metcalfe. Our staircase structures are designed to be compliant with EN1090 up to and including EXC2.
